Fr. Harold Smith (1899-1924)

Frater Harold Smith passed away August 23, 1924.

Frater Harold was born in Atchison and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish.  He graduated from St. Benedict’s High School and College.  He left for Sant’Amselmo, Rome, October 12, 1922.  He was traveling in Germany when he died of a heart condition at the Archabbey of Beuron.  He is buried there at the Archabbey.

Frater Harold was to have returned to Atchison the next year and had petitioned Abbot Martin Veth for ordination to the priesthood and that he “be attached to St. Benedict’s Abbey.”
