Br. Joseph von Bragel (1837-1883)

Brother Joseph was the second monk of our community to die.  The first was Brother Bernard Ball.  Joseph von Bragel was born in Westphalia, Germany, March 3, 1837, and made first profession here March 19, 1863.  Father Boniface Verheyen is quoted as saying, “the care of the institution was in the hands of Brother Joseph, who did the baking, sawed the firewood, the latter also for the Sisters.”
