Pentecost Vigil 2024

Pentecost Vigil & Potluck

In times past, the Church celebrated a vigil for Pentecost. This is because, quite simply, it is another major moment when God fulfilled the promises He made to His people and the gifts of salvation are poured out upon the Church. The prophets Ezekiel and Joel, in particular, foretold of a time when God's Spirit would dwell in the hearts of His people. Our Lord Jesus, the Messiah of Israel, promised to send His Paraclete. And so our spiritual ancestors would gather together, much like they did on the eves of Christmas and Easter, to listen to prophecies and celebrate their fulfillment in the gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church.

The Monks of St. Benedict's Abbey invite you to join them for this special vigil Mass on the Eve of Pentecost, Saturday, May 18th, beginning with Vespers at 5pm. The Mass is a little longer than usual, around an hour and forty-five minutes. After Mass, please join the monks for a potluck dinner.

Sign up to bring a dish or side to the Potluck below!
